Edrian Pangilinan (he/him) is a Filipino-American filmmaker + dance artist based both in San Diego/Los Angeles. He is a co-founder of “The Filam Film Collective ” along with Marissa Roxas & Trixi Agiao which aims to amplify fellow Fil-Am + AAPI voices into today’s media. His work is greatly inspired by his press for representation as a brown, filipino and queer human. He is grateful to finally pursue his dreams of becoming a filmmaker focusing on LGBTQIA+ themes that challenge the status quo AND initiate dialogues necessary for change.
His personal short, “Ang Huling Sayaw” (The Late Checkout) premiered in Oct 2023 exploring longing and loneliness during the pandemic—an experience that resonated with audiences critically. The film earned Audience Choice at the San Diego Filipino Film Festival 2023 and Best Director at Dreamanila International Film Festival 2024 Last year, he recieved his first comissioned project as a director for Disco Riot’s “Move American” (2024) to create a socio-political dance film PSA for the presidential elections. Most recently, he has served as a production designer for ZOS!MO' "Nagbabadyang Liwanag” music video as an entry for NPR’s 2025 Tiny Desk Contest in Feb.
Credits include ABS-CBN/TFC, GMA PinoyTV, Goldilocks, San Diego Filipino Cinema, Vogue Italia, and Sundance.
“Ang Huling Sayaw” is very much birthed from very personal experiences I’ve experienced and deeply felt during the global pandemic. I, very much wanted to explore the themes of the intersectionalities between being queer and someone who’s always experienced what I call, “deep-loneliness”. In this work, I also wanted to pay homage to everything that I’ve experienced especially now being in my 30’s and wanted to create from a place of authenticity and realness. Especially telling stories from my own perspective that aren’t usually told from the LGBTQIA+ community.
an honest review from someone who got to watch the film-
“I was there at the screening on Friday and Ang Huling Sayaw was my absolute favorite film - I loved how it reflected the beauty in human connection and fleeting moments with people you may never see again, yet those moments are still so meaningful, as well as how it showcased personal Filipino culture. Thank you so much for sharing your story! It was so wonderful to watch and definitely got me very emotional.“
