ANATOMY OF A PREDATOR

Celebrated author Bolanle Rodriguez unbeknownst to “anyone” is in a race for her life. You see, karma has come knocking in the person of Dame Titilayo Ransome-Bello, a billionaire whose daughter Sayo, she allegedly “Tinder-Swindled” into parting with her inheritance. Now 10 years after her broad day light robbery of the Ransome-Bellos which left Sayo in a mental institution, fate has come knocking with the force of a sledge hammer for Bolanle. But Bolanle is not without the imaginative wiles which made her the queen of speculative fiction in Nigeria. She has an escape plan in mind, one that her friends will unwittingly be a part of.

On Christmas day, Bolanle invites her motley assortment of friends, ostensibly for a soiree/book reading for her feature novel – Dakpada Speciale, but unbeknownst to them – they are all here to witness Bolanle’s public execution, a ruse with which she intends to use in escaping for good and begin life afresh, under a new identity in the Maldives or so the events of the night lead us to initially believe. But for this to work – she needs the sparks to fly, she needs the party to crash and the roof brought down! And so, she invites carefully curated friends, who the last thing they would want, would be to share Christmas with each other.

She invites Hennessey “Hennything-is-possible” Okagbare, an ex-kept woman, life of the party with story for days, but currently recovering from a heartbreak due to her fiancé unfortunately jilting her at the altar 4 months ago. Bolanle invites Hennessey’s ex-fiancé - Invictus Edochie, young start up founder and millionaire in foreign currency, who is currently engaged to Peaches – a ‘stripper’ an exotic dancer. Peaches, Hennessey’s former best friend turned mortal enemy, also gets an invite.

Lastly, Bolanle invites Marshall Bode Adefarasin and his wife Suyi, both IJGB’s currently in Lagos, conspicuously for the vacation, but secretly to reignite the spark in their failing marriage, or so Marshall thinks. Unknown to all but Bolanle, Peach is Marshall’s long suffering ex-side chic. Unknown to all, including Bolanle, Suyi has a hideous secret of her own – one which Invictus plays a significant role in, one that threatens to unearth Bolanle’s long buried skeletons and this is the real reason why she is in town.

With everything set for a Christmas night’s entertainment and Bolanle’s Ikoyi mansion acting as the theatre for Christmas fireworks, Bolanle opens her doors to her guests. But what she doesn’t anticipate or plan for is the Santa Claus she had hired to spice up the event. A Santa Claus who is none other than SAYO Ransome-Bello, fresh off a trip from the north pole, here to deliver a fatal gift to Bolanle who has been such a bad-bad girl!
