The Midwife's Case Notes in a Time of Contagion
Logline: During the year 1695, negotiations in a printer’s office give way to flashbacks of the plague some thirty years earlier, flashbacks focused on a difficult childbirth, a young midwife dealing with her first dangerous delivery, and an aging midwife finding new and renewing vocation in writing.

Jim Fitzmaurice and Sara Read share a history of teaching seventeenth-century English literature at the university level, though Jim is retired and writing screenplays while Sara is still active in the classroom and writing novels involving early modern medicine. The two chanced to work together on a scholarly book on biofiction to be published by Amsterdam University Press. They decided to pool their skills and experience to create THE MIDWIFE'S CASE NOTES IN A TIME OF CONTAGION.
Jim and Sara are delighted to be working together on a common project in which the imagined biographies of two early modern midwives are based on life in the period, on actual contemporary practice of midwifery, and on two published sets of case notes from the time.
