I create films to uplift or represent people like me: The ethnic minorities, the scrawny boys, queer men, and those dealing with mental illness.
On the other hand, I create films that feature women. My biggest inspiration has always been my mother: her strength, humility, and beauty.
Through my work, I explore what makes us human. It is the ugly aspects, our mistakes, and trauma that interest me the most. The rebel in me loves to tackle taboo subjects or difficult situations.
My stories come from experience and observation of those around me. My goal is to unveil the invisible strings that connect us as humans through shared experiences. Growing up as a singer and actor, turned writer, turned filmmaker with interests in fashion, fine art, and pop culture at large, I find myself redefining the kind of artist I want to be. The medium or genre is always changing- the themes remain.
