Sophie Meehan is a filmmaker, poet and multidisciplinary artist from Dublin. As a writer/director she is one half of Fishty Fagan Films, along with producer Aoife Derwin.
Sophie's shorts A Little Bird Told Me (2025), Young People of Ireland (2023) and Monday to Friday Person (2020) introduce us to some unseen members of society. Her work explores social realities through a poetic lens, using humour as an entry-point.
A self-taught filmmaker, Sophie was selected for funding from the National Academy for Film & TV's First Credit Film Scheme in 2024, an initiative to support promising emerging talent in the Irish film industry.
Official selections have included Galway Film Fleadh, Dublin International Film Festival, Toronto Irish Film Festival, Fastnet, OFFline, Kerry International Film Festival, Female Filmmakers' Festival Berlin, Atlanta Women's Film Festival and more.
