I had the opportunity at my first attempt in filmmaking back in 2017. I had the chance to either produce a short play or short film for Reno Little Theatre in Reno, Nevada. I chose the short film.
"The Girl and the Mask" was an experimental and artistic sci-fi short film which won numerous film festival awards.
This current documentary is unlike my sci-fi short film. I chose to write and produce "A Life Worth Living Documentary" to help other Mothers like me and to provide hope and support and to let them know that they are not alone.
At nearly six months pregnant, I was informed that my unborn son
would be born with Down Syndrome and because of a prenatal lab mix up, I had less than 2 weeks to decide whether to keep my baby, send the baby off for adoption or abort him.
The news broke me. It broke my heart. I had no idea what to do. I felt alone. But in the end, I made a choice.
The production of "A Life Worth Living Documentary" was put on hold for various reasons. COVID, our travels to a new state, our travels to England, and saddening, my son Benjamin was stricken with Leukemia May 1st of 2022. 10 months after my son's diagnosis, my 14 year old daughter Emma was diagnosed with Epilepsy.
I now had 2 sick children to care for. Circumstances have been difficult. These were challenging times. But with that said, the production of this film has been completed.
My goal is to offer Mothers hope and support. I want them to know that they are not alone. I want them to know that whatever the situation or circumstance that they're going through in life right now, there is hope. And finally, I want to put children and Adults born with Down Syndrome in a positive light.
