A Lamb for the dark
Bound by a dark ancestral pact, a young princess is destined to be given to an ancient, primal entity of the woods. While the Queen desperately prays for her salvation, the Princess feels no fear. Groomed by the shadows since childhood, she willingly descends into the foggy forest to meet a silent cult of masked nobles. After partaking in a profane banquet, she engages in a haunting demonic waltz with a towering shadow, ultimately surrendering her humanity to become a vessel of pure darkness.

With A Lamb for the Dark, my primary goal was to explore one of the most unsettling concepts in psychological and folk horror: the willing surrender. Traditional horror often relies on the fear of the unknown and the desperate human instinct to flee. I wanted to subvert this trope completely. I asked myself: what happens when the victim not only expects the monster, but has been groomed since childhood to embrace it as a twisted form of salvation?
The film is built upon the contrast between two distinct worlds. On one side, we have the rigid, suffocating guilt of the decaying aristocracy inside the gothic castle. On the other, the raw, primal, and unapologetic corruption of the ancestral forest. The Princess stands between them. Her angelic purity isn't taken by force; it is willingly offered in a profane communion. She doesn't run from the dark; she walks into it with a frighteningly serene smile.
Visually and sonically, my approach was driven by dissonance. I wanted to take elements of royalty and elegance and rot them from the inside out. A luxurious banquet table is transplanted into the mud and roots; the grace of a traditional waltz is distorted into a frantic, demonic possession. By contrasting a cold, raw visual aesthetic with an oppressive sound design—mixing the weight of sacred, liturgical choirs with the visceral sounds of a pagan ritual—the film creates an atmosphere of deep religious dread.
Ultimately, A Lamb for the Dark is not about jump scares. It is an atmospheric, hypnotic dark fairy tale about the corruption of innocence and the terrifying, mesmerizing beauty of giving yourself completely over to the dark.
