Experiencing Interruptions?

A Journey Inside VR Poetry Experience

Join Lytisha as her imagination wanders through a whole host of ideas sparked by the sounds experienced whilst she is inside the MRI scanner. She examines the important questions in life – What did Concorde’s nose sound like? Can mental dancing affect a scan? What flavour ice-cream should she have next? All the big questions. Surrounded by the sounds of the scanner we are led on an unexpected journey involving a lot of chocolate fish...

Director Statement

MRI’s get bad press, we hear the negative only narratives. Yes, they may not be your first choice for a day out, and yes the machine sounds are loud and intrusive, but it can be time for your imagination to wander.
This is where mine went during a regular scan to keep an eye on the progress of my MS. I hope you enjoy the meanderings sparked by the sounds.
Having the opportunity to deliver the poetry in a direct one to one experience using binaural sound, whilst showing the images I imagine, is an amazing opportunity for a poet.
I hope this project will open up discussions of MRI experiences and help people facing the unknown.
