Russell Webb is a retired actor, director, theatrical technician, and Vietnam veteran, who, after graduating from San Diego State and Portland State Colleges, worked in educational and regional theaters all over the country. This is his first sojourn into film making, a life long dream. A San Diego native, he currently lives in Borrego Springs with his rescue dog Gili Elohe ('G' for short).
Alicia Wszelaki is a visual creative who has been working in the media industry for over two decades. As a director, producer and editor, her passion is telling other people’s stories. Alicia lives in San Diego, California with her husband, and amazing rescue dog Teddy. She is part-owner of Path 88 Productions, which produces travel films and inspirational documentaries. She enjoys being outside and has walked both the Camino de Santiago, and Japan’s 88 Temples pilgrimages, twice!
Living on the eastern corner of San Diego County in Borrego Springs, CA offers many things, including this opportunity to make a charming community film!
For us, a Vietnam veteran and a Gen-X documentarian, our separate insights could have been a creative challenge, but sharing the same filmmaking goals made our collaboration a joy.
Our first attempt at directing narrative fiction is a homage to the Golden Age of Hollywood filmmaking, and using the techniques of 1930's cinema was incredibly exciting.
The earnest storytelling, black and white, long master shots, a wonderful musical score, and the classic charisma of our lead actors; all of it was embraced to deliver our celebration of the Silver Screen.
We hope you find this old-fashioned film as endearing as we do. Enjoy, and may every day leading to Christmas be a happy one!
