During her high school years, Amia wrote, directed, produced, and acted in her own independent short films, including, "In the Belly of the Beast" (2020), "The Search" (2020), "Wake Up" (2021), and Nā Nalu Nui (2021).

An important aspect featured consistently in Amia's work is the connection between people and nature being connected as a part of God's creation.
In 2018, she founded Written Truth Productions with the aim of creating thought-provoking and moving films that inspire people to Know God, Be connected to His creation, and Do what He's called us to do.

Director Statement

I created this film from a personal space. This past summer, I started an internship, a part-time job, and a competitive sport all within a few days from each other. I struggled with a nagging sense of inadequacy as the expectations coming from these different spaces was the only thing on my mind. Something as simple as an email coming in filled me with dread, and I felt trapped and discouraged by the thought that I was feeling overwhelmed while people around me seemed to cope and thrive. It wasn't until I chose to tune out the outside noise that I was able to refocus myself. This wan't the life God intended for me. In reality, it is true that in my own strength I may not be able, but with Yeshua I am capable of accomplishing so much. I remember the day I confessed to Him that I needed His strength. It was on that day I went diving in the ocean, and I was reminded of His presence. Under the waves, there is a silence and a peace that I feel. It is in that space that the outside world no longer matters, and if I am willing to listen I can focus on His words and His truth.

I dedicate this film to all those who feel overwhelmed by what others consider small. To those who feel incapable even when the world makes you feel like you should be able to handle it. You are not alone.

"Because he holds fast to Me in love, I will deliver Him;
I will protect him, because he knows My name.
When he calls to Me, I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will rescue him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation."

-Psalm 91: 14-16
