Beril Tan was born in August 21st, 2000 in Izmir, Turkey. She graduated from Istanbul Bilgi University, Cinema and Television department. While she was studying, she worked in film industry.
She finished her first, Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism, funded short film (A Different Kind of Mourn) right after she graduated. Her next short film is currently in the pre-production process.
This project has been shaped around a real-life loss and its effects afterward. The main focus is overviewing the struggle of dealing with necessities rather than embracing the pain. This short film aimed to look at the grieving process, which we have normalized for centuries, from a different perspective with subtle bitter-sweet humor.
