Director Statement

This short film was born from anger and fascination: anger at a cinema that is too often sanitized, polished, and politically correct; fascination with works that disturb, that wound, that force the viewer to react, even to the point of leaving the theater. Directors like Gaspar Noé (Irreversible) and Lars von Trier (Antichrist) have shown me that cinema can be a physical experience, almost an assault. With "Acouphène" (Tinnitus), I want to push this logic even further. This short film is a deep dive into the sensory hell of a woman haunted by persistent tinnitus. In an era where everything is smoothed over, where emotions are sugar-coated, this short is, I hope, a slap in the face. A work designed to provoke discomfort, to cause pain, to force the viewer to feel what they usually prefer to avoid.
