9.21
"9.21" accompanies the school class of the same name as they deal with Nazi crimes. The students visit the former concentration camp Sachsenhausen and meet with a contemporary witness. The film stays close to the feelings and thoughts of the teenagers, who deal with what they experience in very different ways.

Patrick Fleischer was born and raised in Lörrach, Germany in 1995. He gained his first experiences with film and theater during his studies of media science and media practice as well as his minor subject in theater didactics in Bayreuth. Since 2021 he studies directing in the Bachelor's program at the Filmuniversität Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF. "9.21" is his first-year documentary film.
For me as a filmmaker it is always important to understand form and content as a unity and to implement them in this way. Thus the visual omission and the square framing is an attempt to tell a well known chapter of history through the eyes of a new generation. It was particularly important to me to show the handling of the various forms of memory in all its facets without forgetting that it is young people we see and with whom we sympathize.
