Director Biography - Wayne Stamps

Wayne Stamps is a Los Angeles native who is currently writing for former host of The Daily Show, Jon Stewart’s highly anticipated new HBO project. Wayne recently completed writing on Comedy Central’s The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, who Wayne also wrote jokes for when Wilmore hosted the 2016 White House Correspondent’s Dinner. The Jon Stewart project marks Wayne’s return to HBO having worked last summer as a Producer on the networks original comedy series Brothers In Atlanta under Lorne Michael’s Broadway Video. Wayne is also Supervising Producer for BET’s award winning comedy series Real Husbands of Hollywood starring Kevin Hart. Wayne sold an animated comedy series to BET entitled The Common Family starring Academy Award winning musician Common and R&B songstress Jill Scott. Prior to that, Wayne wrote for TV One’s Love That Girl starring The Fresh Prince of Bel Air’s Tatyana Ali. He also created, wrote and executive produced the critically acclaimed and highly politicized animated comedy series B-Rock, which follows the whacky and wild adventures of President Barack Obama and his gangsta alter ego B-Rock. The animated series has been licensed by and can be seen on Russell Simmons’ All Def Digital YouTube network (ADD). Wayne’s other TV writing credits include UPN’s Moesha, Disney Channel’s animated series The Proud Family, Disney Channel’s Phil of the Future, Nickelodeon’s Just Jordan, Bounce TV’s first original scripted comedy series Family Time, and the 3D animated series Da Jammies, which was recently acquired by Netflix.

Wayne has also transitioned into the world of directing with his first short film, Adventures of Old Man, which he also wrote and produced through his production company, ENTERWAYNEMENT, INC. The action-comedy follows the story of Norman Wu, an unassuming 86-year-old semi-retired superhero who now resides in the same nursing home as his wicked 83-year-old arch nemesis, Stanley Malick, as he tries to overcome bullying and old age in order to save others in need of a hero. The film stars legendary actors James Hong (Chinatown, Blade Runner), Jamie Farr (M*A*S*H), Nichelle Nichols (Star Trek), Millicent Martin (Frasier) and Marla Gibbs (The Jeffersons, 227).

Greatness in art is subjective and elusive. So I'll just keep considering myself someone who is constantly trying to learn as much as I can. And hopefully, when it's all said and done, others will think I did great work.
