Director Statement

My first time seeing the Back Pockets was at SXSW in 2011. It was a spectacle I thought the whole world needed to see. I toured with them in 2012 and captured every show as we travelled around the country for two months. Shortly afterwards, the group broke up, but I continued to edit the film. Like the collective, the film has taken many transformations, but I finally landed on this fifteen minute short that tries to make sense of the chaos that is the Back Pockets.
