John Welsh, Philadelphia area photographer and filmmaker, has taught photography privately, through the Wayne Art Center, and also through undergraduate courses and a photography workshop with the Honors Program at Villanova University. He is an active member of the American Society of Media Photographers, has served as President of the Philadelphia Chapter and now as a Director on the National Board .
As described in a Philadelphia Inquirer review about his Icelandic photography, John Welsh “seems to be working in the area between documentary photography and art.” It’s an approach he’s taken in his photography that captures the spirit of the moment whether it’s an Icelandic landscape or a university rugby match.
His ongoing projects include a documentary film about the fate of the Huber Breaker, the last of its kind located in Ashley, PA exploring the Delaware River in its entirety and a Reimagined Iceland.
