Mixtape Club is the directing team of Chris Lenox Smith and Jesse Casey. Outside our short films, we work with a range of brands and artists, including Google, HBO, ESPN, Spotify, Primus, and They Might Be Giants, to create memorable videos that tell a story. Our work synthesizes inspiration from the pre-computer masters with modern techniques.
Inspired by their shared fascination with cultural myths and stories, award-winning creative studio Mixtape Club teamed up with The New York Times-bestselling children’s book author Adam Gidwitz, to bring to life an enduring Japanese folklore in a present-day setting. Snow Girl’s graphic style was designed by The New Yorker illustrator R Kikuo Johnson. The film is the first official collaboration between Mixtape Club founders Chris Lenox Smith and Jesse Casey with Adam Gidwitz, and is a step forward in their quest to bring together time-honored storytelling with modern techniques.
