Niv Klainer received a bachelor's degree in comparative literature from Tel Aviv University. Before attending the Sam Spiegel Film School in Jerusalem, he published a compilation of his short stories and made his first animated short film. After the premiere of his first live action short, MR. KURZWEIL IS DEAD, at the Cannes Film Festival in 2006, Niv moved on to develop his first feature film, BENA, at the Binger Filmlab in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The film was a French–Israeli co-production and had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2009.
During the past decade, Niv has been living in New York City, working as a writer, director and editor at Navigate Films. DON'T THINK ABOUT IT is his latest short film. It was produced as an MFA thesis film at Columbia University. Since its premiere in December 2016, the film has been selected for 40 festivals and has received 13 awards.
