Experiencing Interruptions?

Quiet... disquiet

Quiet… disquiet is about pictures, fragments of existence, considerations about being, of things vanishing, of time passing by.
Nowadays our real reason of disturbance is not having someone to share our contemplations.

Director Biography - Nunzio Impellizzeri

NUNZIO IMPELLIZZERI
is a choreographer known for his unique imprint, dynamics and innovative use of space, which characterizes his creations.
His body language is universal and so intense that it goes beyond any verbal expression.
Visual art significantly impacts his creations; after his studies in Art, with specialization in painting, sculpture and costume, dance was the peak of his artistic training. Nunzio is simultaneously a choreographer, costume designer and scene designer for many of his works, which are characterised by an extreme attention to detail.
Nunzio's productions are born from his personal observation of human existence and social contexts. He wishes to lead the spectator to reflect and question social phenomena. Intricate movement patterns are impregnated with an intense physicality to convey a clear dramaturgy.
The smart choice of dancers leads to heterogeneous constellations with a strong stage presence, while still leaving space for their individual language. The dynamism of the bodies merge with a valuable use of the music, making Nunzio Impellizzeri's unique creations.
Nunzio describes his intention whilst working on a new project:
"Before starting a new production, the first question I ask myself is: What do I really want to convey with this work?"

Born in Sicily, Nunzio completed his art studies and he discovered dancing, which he was immediately drawn into. He started to deepen his knowledge and improved his skills in classical and contemporary dance.
In 2000 he began his dancing career as a soloist with the Compagnia Zappalà Danza, directed by Roberto Zappalà in Sicily.
In the years to follow Nunzio collaborated with the choreographers such as Enrico C. Musmeci, Linda Magnifico, MDA Production and Aurelio Gatti. His career continued with international collaborations in Spain with the Compañia Metros Dansa directed by Ramon Oller; in Austria and Switzerland as a soloist dancer he worked with the chorepgraphers Jacqueline Beck and Kinsun Chan; in Germany for the Ballett-Theater Augsburg and for the Stadttheater Kempten Allgäu directed by Jochen Heckmann.

During his dancing career, Nunzio also developed his passion for choreography, receiving very early international acclaim.
Nunzio’s path as a choreographer started in Italy for the Theater Company Gruppo Iarba, the Genius Loci and Studio Ferrera. In Switzerland, on behalf of Gisela Rocha Dance Company, the ZHdK/BA Contemporary Dance, the Faa-Zone Dance Company, the Cinevox Junior Dance Company, the SZZ_Junior Company and the ZTTS of Zurich. In Germany he cooperated with Giorgio Madia and the Cottbus Staatstheater.
In 2009 Nunzio was one of the four choreographers chosen for the Platform 12 Min. Max. at Tanzhaus Zurich.
In 2010 he was selected amongst six other choreographers for "SiWiC 2010" – (The 14th Swiss International Coaching Project for Choreographers) directed by Reinhild Hoffmann. He participated in ChoreoLab 2013 in Zurich and Warsaw, directed by Tanzhaus Zürich and Centrum W RU-CHU Warsaw.
In 2012 and in 2013 he won the choreographic competition Ballet-ex Rome. In 2014 Nunzio has directed the short Dance Film „Quieta... Inquietudine“, which has been in 2016, awarded with the audience price at the Loikka Dance Film Festival for the 60secondsdance competition in Helsinki.
In 2014 he founded the Nunzio Impellizzeri Dance Company of which he is the artistic director.
