A comedic documentary short in which comedian Katie Goodman drives 512 miles through the U.S. examining state abortion restrictions and the burden these restrictions place on woman and families. 512 miles is the distance many in Texas now have to drive to reach a reproductive clinic due to legislated clinic closures.

Director Biography - Katie Goodman, Soren Kisiel

Katie Goodman and Soren Kisiel are the co-authors and co-directors of Broad Comedy, an internationally touring all-women sketch comedy and political satire troupe headlined by Katie, which has played to sold-out houses in three-month runs at Boston’s Stuart Street Playhouse and at the Acme Comedy Theatre in West Hollywood, has been showcased at Caroline’s Comedy Club in Times Square, won the Pick-of-the-Fringe Award at the Vancouver Fringe Festival, and was listed as one of the top ten sketch troupes at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. Broad Comedy currently plays regular NYC performances at the Triad Theater.

Katie and Soren have also used this material to create a one-woman show for Katie that is currently running monthly performances at the Triad Theater in New York City, performed for Showtime’s The Green Room With Paul Provenza, and was recently showcased on Comedy Central’s stage in Los Angeles. Katie and Soren have been nominated for the MacArthur Foundation’s Fellowship for their unique work in theater, and for the White House Project’s Emerging Artists Award.

Their comedy videos and songs have garnered millions of views online. This is their first short film.

Even the Supreme Court agrees: the restrictions conservative state legislatures are enacting against legal abortions create impossible burdens for women and families—which is exactly what these sneaky and underhanded laws were designed to do.
This film is a light look at this troubling subject. "A comedy about abortion laws, you say?" Buckle your seat belts!
