Still
A living statue entertainer is caught up in the middle of a zombie outbreak. He freezes in fear whilst everyone around him flees or dies at the hands of the attacking zombie horde. Left alone in an large open square surrounded on all sides with only his ability to stay very still to save him, he must work out a way to survive.

Carl Timms is a freelance director with twenty years experience in the indie film-making scene, having worked on a number of documentaries, short films and music videos as producer and editor. In 2016 he completed his narrative directorial debut, the award-winning horror short, STILL, the first release by Dark Matter Films. In 2018 he shot his follow up project, the ambitious 20min short OFF GRID starring James Cosmo and Alison Steadman. This will be playing festivals in 2019.
Carl has also worked as Head of Production for BBC-owned digital art commissioning fund The Space and is a member of The Producers' Forum, a network supporting training, lobbying and networking for film-makers, and the RTS.
This is my attempt to bring something fresh, if short, to the tired zombie horror genre. 'Still' presents a genuinely original set up: how long could you survive a zombie apocalypse if your only skill is standing very, very still? This film examines in near real-time this predicament from the internal perspective of our central character, a living statue performer facing the harshest audience of his career.
It's a dark but fun concept, ambitious in scope, yet contained in terms of location, making it achievable on a low budget. Also by bringing the shoot into a very public open space, I wanted to subvert the usual dark corners and night-time shoots by making the zombies a threat even in broad daylight.
