The humble houses
The documentary is part of a research done by the Architects Association of Lesvos, on the theme of the potteries found in the area around the village of Mandamados, in Lesvos. (19th century – early 20th century)
Potters of this area, in the north-eastern part of the island, opposite the coast of the Asia-Minor, prefer to call them “Tsoukalaria” or “Kaminia” (kilns).
The theme is approached through the eyes of an architect and the questioning about the future of an important part of our recent cultural heritage and of the people who have created it.
