Johnnie Hector is an actor and a Director. He is the Director/Host of the show Day Trippin’, has worked in the film industry for 10 + years. Born in Roswell, New Mexico, he got his start acting on an independent film (Ultimate Alibi) in Amarillo, Texas. Johnnie’s theatrical debut began with the nationally-recognized play, Texas in the Palo Duro Canyon.
Johnnie enrolled and excelled in classes in every aspect of film before heading off to Hollywood in 2003. He continued taking classes, primarily in Acting, before a family emergency brought him back to Roswell, where, as an IATSE Local 480 union member, he associated with Film Instructor, Alan Trevor, who offered him a position as an instructor for the Film Technicians Training Program (FTTP) at Eastern New Mexico University – Roswell. While working at ENMU-R Johnnie wrote, directed, edited, and starred in a short feature, Diario de Muerte, which won first prize as Best Narrative Fiction and Audience Choice award at the Sightings Film Festival in March of 2006. Additionally, Johnnie’s behind-the-scenes work within IATSE includes many multi-million-dollar productions such as North Country, First Snow and the ABC television series, Wildfire. Johnnie continued to study Acting, became a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and, in 2007, moved to Albuquerque, NM where he currently lives. Johnnie secured acting roles in numerous multi-million-dollar productions such as The Flock with Richard Gere and the Oscar-winner, No Country for Old Men with Tommy Lee Jones.
His resume has long since grown, both as a Director and actor. His film CiviliTea received honors at the Roswell comic con where his direction of first time actress, Amber Kent, received top honors as best actress.
This script was written out of necessity. I was 38 and still had no feature under my belt. The age old question for any artist started pounding against my heart. Should I get a real job and hang up the dream? After talking with my team, we came to the conclusion, if we don't do it now, we won't ever do it. So I wrote the script.
Very optimistic to say the least. With a very minimal budget, ten days and a 4 man crew, we embarked on this wild journey. A journey we will never forget.
