PAOLINA ERA LA MADRE DI GIULIA

The protagonist is my mother, an unlettered writer, her life and writing.
The interview takes place in her house, and outdoor in the park “Monte Claro” where she goes every day to meet people, offering them her poems.
She began to write when a newborn daughter died. She began to talk with her in a secret notebook. My sister and I began to read it secretly.
When I became adult, suggested her to write an autobiography; the short film talks about our literary complicity and also tells the special relationship between my mother Bruna (Gulia) and her mother Vincenza (Paolina).

Director Biography - CLARA MURTAS

Singer, actress, author, director.
She worked, with Ennio Morricone and Luciano Berio, in 2005 won the “Maria Carta” award; protagonist in 2010, in a short film “Deu ci sia” she won the Italian “Golden Globe”. She has published LP, CD and books including Sante & Sciamane, about the Sardinian woman.

Director Statement

All starts from a secret notebook, due to complicity between mother and daughter in writing the mother’s autobiography.
Like a Russian “Matryoshka” comes out the special familiar relationship between mother and her own mother.
