50 Shades of Silence

When her jilted ex-boyfriend harasses and publicly shames and exposes her naked body online, one courageous woman triumphs over her humiliation. Darieth Chisolm finds her courage and uses her voice to fight back, inspire and motivate other victims of Revenge Porn and cyber harassment and launches a global social justice movement.

Imagine waking up one day to find nude pictures and videos of yourself on the internet. Images that you were not aware existed, you did not approve of and have no control of removing. The person who committed this atrocious act, you once lived with and loved, lives in a different country and wants to humiliate you and destroy your reputation – and no legislation or law enforcement can prevent this from occurring or ensure those pictures are removed.

This ongoing international saga, happened to Darieth Chisolm, a 2 X Emmy Award-winning television personality, former NBC News Anchor, business coach and international motivational speaker. Darieth suddenly became a victim of cyberstalking and revenge porn at the hands of an ex-boyfriend, who constructed a website with nude photos and videos and harassing memes to attempt to publicly shame, embarrass and destroy her career and celebrity.

Go behind the scenes with Darieth as she chronicles her painful, yet the purposeful journey of launching a global movement against cyber harassment crimes, and the steps she takes to not only seek legislative change but also create a space in which victims can become survivors and regain their dignity.

Throughout the documentary, Darieth takes you into the homes of other victims, in the law offices of attorneys, in the courtrooms of judges, and on the streets in front of government buildings and courthouses where she staged marches and rallies to fight these horrible crimes. As survivors share their stories, Darieth transparently offers a glimpse into her own ongoing legal battle that serves as the impetus to the 50 Shades of Silence movement.

Director Biography - Darieth Chisolm

For an Emmy Award Winning Television personality, internationally recognized public speaker and respected business and visibility coach, there are few things more harrowing than having your credibility and your image tarnished by scandal. When a crisis like this happens, you have two options. You either allow humiliation to envelop you, rumors to destroy your spirit and shame to break you, or you rise against injustice, use your voice to silence the criticism and rewrite the narrative surrounding you. This is the story of Darieth Chisolm.

A dynamic speaker having presented on over 500 stages worldwide and with over 30 years of experience in the TV and media, Darieth was no stranger to the scrutiny that came with living life in the public eye. But when her jilted ex-boyfriend nonconsensually published a website containing nude images of her that he had been secretly taking, attempting to use it as leverage for manipulation and blackmail, Darieth found herself unwillingly at the center of international attention. From confusion and despair to making history as the first person to successfully bring charges against a perpetrator under Jamaica’s Malicious Communications and Cyber Crimes Act and win an international landmark case. Darieth used her story to launch a revolutionary social justice movement 50 Shades of Silence. This movement is anchored by an award winning documentary entitled 50 Shades of Silence, a short film that marks her directorial debut and is currently screening and winning awards for Best Documentary and Best Editing in film festivals worldwide. 50 Shades of Silence was honored and recognized as the 2018 Charitable Organization winner by Pittsburgh Business Choice Awards.

Today Darieth uses her platform to inspire an audience to turn their “mess into their message”. She coaches aspiring speakers to use their story for greater impact and business growth and to build lives in alignment with their dreams using the art and business of public speaking and storytelling.

She is the author of Hustle! Why Now is the Time to Unleash your Passions, and is a contributing writer for Inspiring Lives and Woman of More magazines. She has toured the country speaking on diverse platforms such as the World Woman Summit, the Metrowest Conference for Women and several TEDx stages. Her TED talk on revenge porn and cyber harassment has been translated into 17 different languages.

Throughout her decorated career, Darieth has received 2 Emmy wins, 6 Emmy nominations, and multiple awards for her work as a TV host, educator and entrepreneur. She was the recipient of the 2018 Woman of Influence Award from the Pittsburgh Business Times and received a special recognition from the Senate of Pennsylvania for making an outstanding
difference and profound impact in Pittsburgh. She has been featured on the Megyn Kelly TODAY Show, The Dr. Oz Show, Roland Martin Unfiltered, FOX News, In Health Magazine, and several other notable media outlets and publications. She also serves as the host of CBS Eye on Health and the Emmy-winning iQ: Smartparent on PBS.

Darieth travels extensively and spends her days hosting intimate high-level mastermind workshops and retreats, developing the Speak Serve Soar Members Academy, coaching entrepreneurs who want to build the business of their dreams, and preparing for her next appearance on the big stage.
