Experiencing Interruptions?

4 July 1977. The Unknown Earthquake

Bucharest is the European capital with the highest seismic risk. Thousands of blocks, tens of thousands of apartments, schools, hospitals, institutions are today extremely vulnerable to the next major earthquake.
Two major earthquakes have brought us to this point, in 1940 and 1977, which have severely damaged the built environment, but also an unknown earthquake, a hidden order to inaction and lies order given by Nicolae Ceaușescu to stop the consolidation work, just 4 months after the earthquake of 4 March 1977. An order followed by an institutionalized cover-up of risk to which we were and still are exposed day after day. An order that produced, for decades afterwards, oblivion, myths and ignorance.

A film by Șerban Georgescu (Kolectiv film), based on the play of the same name (directed by Carmen Lidia Vidu), staged at the Odeon Theatre.
A screen version of the criminal order and its aftermath, aiming to reinstate historical truth, according to official documents, such as the stenogram of the meeting.
