Mathew Michael Prince is an award winning Director, with years of experience in Cinematography and Editing, he has secured a place in the hearts of many writers, producers and actors for the deft attention to details.
4 Bullets is based upon the true story of this period in our lives as youth in Nigeria striving to make a living for ourselves but will still have to face the corrupt policies of our Government and also have to deal with police brutality on a daily basis.
A lot of Nigeria youth have been killed by the Nigerian Police force over the years unjustly. Despite the killing of several promising stars ( the youth) , the Government did nothing to stop the police from carrying out this acts of killing innocent Nigerian youths . The main division of the Police force is the SARS ( Special Anti-Robbery squad). This squad is so corrupt that they can kill a youth for not tipping them and then go ahead to tag him a criminal. So now, with this film I want to show the world what Nigerian youths are facing on a daily basis. That is why for me this project is more than passion. It has been my life's work, mission and ambition. I want to promote the idea that nobody is more Nigerian than a Nigeria. We need to bring a change to our nation and tell the world that we have Good, creative and productive people in this Nation.
My visual inspiration comes mainly from series of TV news reports of all the youths been killed by the police force. So During the “End SARS “ protest, I and my team felt it was the best time to shoot the film . Unfortunately on our first day on set, 20th Oct 2020, Hundreds of youths were killed by the Nigerian Police force and Army . However, my musical inspiration comes from all the freedom fighters who have made moves to see that this country changes for good. The likes of Fela kuti , femi kuti, Edris Abdulkareem, Majek Fasek.. I hope that the sound will help to make the perception of the film more striking and generate a wider, more global acceptances. The drama genre requires us to be very clear and precise with the casting. The protagonist David must be played by 40-45 year old Man with tremendous energy, naivety and the ability to pass himself off as a Police officer . He must also have very pure eyes, capable of expressing deep sorrow. Son is at the center of all conflicts. He should be around 28-25 years old, strong, smart and reserved. I see him as a boy who is prepared to sacrifice everything, even his life, for his family. The policers must be portrated as corrupt and arrogant men with a quick temper. The Son’s Friend should look tough , and calm. His personal should be confusing so that none can remember his next move.
