Representations of Escape

The film shows drawings made after symbols used by aid organizations and communities to communicate their work with refugees.
The film is based on the idea that you can tell the entire story of an escape through these icons and symbols. Some of them are are sophisticated others seem biased or clumsy. The drawings suggest universality whereas in fact they are based on given imagery.

Faroqhi choose to do drawings of the icons in order to enhance attentiveness to detail. The transformation of a subject through media is a recurring theme in Faroqhi & Peretz’ work.

The film states that it can be necessary to use images for communication even if you know their flaws and shortcomings.
