Director Biography - Alexandre Nachi

Alexandre Nachi was born in Montreal after his parents immigrated from Romania in 1993. His acting career began at the age of 13 years old in the mini series ''Bon Voyage''. Ever since, he’s had the chance of playing alongside great actors such as Susan Sarandon & Christopher Plummer, while also being invited twice to the Toronto International Film Festival.
In 2014, Alexandre was admitted to the Conservatory of Dramatical Arts of Montreal, where he spent three years perfecting his craft. As he graduated, he was spotted by a casting agency and got asked to audition for a lead role in Ricardo Trogi's next movie, ''1991''. Luckily enough, he booked the part and spent the next months shooting in Italy. While working there, Alexandre became so impressed by Trogi's talent and how he was able to convey the stories he wanted, that it inspired him to make his own movies as well.
As soon as he got home, he saved up to write and produce his first project, ''444''. A two year process, that he completed in 2020.
Hoping one day to make a feature film, Alexandre is eager to learn and contribute as much as he can to the already much talented film industry.

Director Statement

I have all these stories in my head, like most people I presume, and this profound desire to act upon them. It's selfish really, i want to write and play in my stories, but I feel like if it stays true, people will relate.
I remember being a kid, knowing one day I'll work in cinema, and I guess I never stopped trying. Hoping one day I can inspire like others inspired me.
''444'' was really a way to question what it would be like if you forget your family, your home, which are the first bases we encounter in life. This, used as a metaphor, can transpose all this common numbness I feel society is diving into.
I also think cinema is powerful enough to illustrate what it would be like to not recognize your mom or you dad. The way we did it, is by changing the actors. They still play the same characters, and ressemble each other, but they are different people. Literally.
We also change the furniture and put emphasis on stuff that can seem senseless. All in order to immerse the people watching what Maxime is going through.
Our mind truly is becoming our own personal jail.
We had the chance of shooting three days before quarantine, and had people of great talent participate in the project while being stuck at home. I see all those great filmmakers out there, and it's motivating that even during this pandemic, art keeps thriving.
Thank you for reading this, hoping to converse with you all soon.
Alex.
