More recently, Mr. Carr wrote, produced and directed American Barbarian, a psychological horror/dark comedy whose main character is a young woman dealing with the aftermath of Donald Trump’s election. Director Statement

Busted City is an unflinching look at systemic racism and the struggle for civil rights in the city of Chicago. Set in 1983 during Harold Washington's campaign to become the first Black mayor of the city, the film has been praised by audiences of all colors for its authenticity and the current issues raised by Black Lives Matter are very present throughout Busted City. As an historical document I'm proud to say it has stood the test of time, while also lamenting the fact that these same issues are still with us.
