Director Statement

The story was randomly inspired by the 19th century German painting by Jakub Schikaneder ¨Murder in the house¨ for a film school project at FAMU Prague, Czech Republic.
I just wanted to make a dark comedy by working in a single location in real time with several characters seen throughout a dynamic camera, almost like a sitcom but twisted. With just two days shooting the story had to be somehow a short thriller like some plots of tv shows I grew up watching, like Hitchcock Presents, Tales from the Cript and The Twilight Zone.
Seeking to make my first 16mm film in since I decided to become a film director, one morning I ended up in the National Art Galery of Prague where Jakub Schikaneder´s paint ¨Murder in the house¨ was exhibited, the story came up by it self... low moral driven actions convined with bad fate, greed and chaos among a family, a dead person lying on the garden with a McGuffin, why not? an unexpected absurd situation felt from the sky, a murder? an accident?, a family affair?. Sincerely I hope it can make you laugh a little. Thank you for watching it.
