Director Biography - Dennys Rodríguez

He was born in the Venezuelan plains (Araure Edo. Portuguesa) from an early age he is interested in photography and cinema. T.S.U in computer science. He moved to the capital of the country to try to combine his technological knowledge with cinema, taking advantage of the migration from analog cinema to digital cinema. He worked in several national film productions such as 'Desde Allá' (Lorenzo Vigas), 'Pelo Malo' (Mariana Rondón), 'El Amparo' (Rober Calzadilla), 'La Familia' (Gustavo Rondón); performing the position of Camera Assistant, Editor in set, Casting and Media Manager (DIT). 'Canis Familiaris', is his first short documentary produced in January 2014. 'Dogma', his first fiction short film. He is currently working on the script for his next short film.
 
He was Production Assistant of the documentary series The Last Shot; produced by Spike Jonze.
Director of the short documentary Canis Familiaris (2013), winning national and
international awards.

Director Statement

In Dogma I decided not to give the script to the actors until the moment of filming, to work from the surprise factor with the children to capture their reactions, making the first shots to capture these reactions, with what happened at the time.
With high-angle shot I wanted to point out the power and machismo of the father. The children in the corners show the breaking of the familiar surroundings, in the reduced space that our unique location gave us.
