Nepali cinema is currently in a transition period and the most fundamental dilemma facing the industry as well as the audience is to choose between the formulaic commercial fi¬lms and the rapidly evolving new-age experimental movies. This is where we’ve been trying our best to apply ourselves in a feat to bridge the gap between these two approaches. With a few original concepts and meaningful stories, we are trying our best to amalgamate both sides of the spectrum and their perceptions. Thus, this project remains immensely pivotal in this regard. We aim to be focused on simplicity and honesty in the story-telling, discarding all superficial approaches and staying true to the heart of the story at every step of the creative process. Our goal is to have a film “Maa”(mother) that revolves around the story of a mother who puts her children in her shoulder and who later on faces hatred and resentment from her own blood. And in a broader sense, with this project, we aim to trigger a major surge in a realistic approach in the Nepalese film-making landscape which we believe is long overdue.
