Director Statement

Having set up the Godiva Films Collective in 2015, I received the powerful script Repost from first-time short film writer April Walker, which dealt with strong themes that she had a very close connection with.
This powerful film script was made in conjunction with the charity Alexandra House which homes young girls in Croydon who have been victims to sexual abuse. The flat that is used in the film bears very close resemblance to where the girls would stay (we had an adviser from the charity help us with the intricate details.)
The film also gained support from the Croydon police Trident unit, who are intending to use the film to screen at many schools and youth events. The trident officers (who specialise in black youth crime) voiced their overwhelming support at our premier screenings, where they highlighted the very real lead up and consequences to the events that unfold in the film.
I was also fortunate to work with some amazing actors, especially the lead who very much took to the serious nature of the role.
As a director who has studied the work of some of the finest realist cinema greats (from Britain, France and Italy), I was very keen to tackle this sensitive subject and present it with a stylised and impactful tone.
