Director Biography - Christophe Spoto

'Red', a clay animation, Araraquara-SP, Brazil, 2017, is the second Spoto film, in which the author addresses issues about environment and ethics, symbolically, in a critique of human predatory behavior - which in his view is cruel, unnecessary, unsustainable and obsolete.

'Perpetual Beauty', Araraquara-SP, Brazil, 2009, was his first film and had as Director of Photography Waldemar Lima (Waldemar Lima was the Director of Photography of 'Deus e o Diabo na Terra do Sol', a film by Glauber Rocha, Brazil, 1964).

'Perpetual Beauty' was filmed in Super 8, in 2001, and had the digital version in 2009. This experimental short film, without conflict in its storyline, seeks to present a vision of the current world through the eyes of a humanist painter; conceived as a poem the film has its structure based on the images. In 2011 'Perpetual Beauty' participated in the 7th Curta 8 - International Film Festival Super 8 in Curitiba, Brazil.

Christophe Spoto was born in 'São Paulo', Brazil, in 1969.
In 1975 he and his family moved to Araraquara-SP, the city in which he lives and works to this day.

Christophe Spoto studied painting, engraving, marble sculpture and bronze sculpture at the 'Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara', Italy, where he graduated in painting in 1990.

In 1991 he participated in the 'Núcleo Brasileiro de Animação Clássica', created and coordinated by Céu D'Ellia.
