Eric Kole is an actor and film director. He graduated in 2008 from the University of West London with a 1st class degree in Film. Shortly after, he was offered for a role in a TV commercial, and decided to pursue acting, he has since worked as an actor for TV (Holby City, BBC Panorama...) and Film (Mosa, Five Thirteen, Sparrow...)
Eric also creates his own short films, which he writes and directs as well as acting in it, the first one of which was Fifty Pence, which premiered at the 2012 London Short Film Fest before screening at various international short film festivals (ASFF, ÉCU, BHFF, etc...)
Hold is his 3rd short form effort as an actor/director, following Not Far from the Tree.
The idea for Hold came to me after doing some research on human needs, and what happens when those needs are not satisfied. I came across the Maslow hierarchy of needs, which designates physiological needs, like nutrition, health, and sex, as the first needs human need to satisfy before the next level of needs can be fulfilled. But I was more intrigued with the needs that involve human contact and connection.
With sex placed in the primary level, but love and belongingness on the third level, I try to explore the possibility that oneʼs attempts to fulfil the need for sex could be a misguided effort to fulfil less acknowledged needs, but nevertheless important, such as affection, touch, and connection.
