DMUS is about a group of artists of different backgrounds who gather at a theatre to rehearse for a casting. Through a dreamlike atmosphere, they show their hopes, dreams and fears.

Director Biography - Sadie Duarte

Born in Zaragoza (Spain), Sadie Duarte is an award-winning filmmaker, writer/screenwriter and producer who holds a B.A. in English Studies at UNED, an M.A. in Textual and Cultural Studies in English Language (British & Hollywood Cinema) at University of Zaragoza and an MA in Film Direction and Production of TV Shows (University San Jorge). She has three novels for young adults published: Alas Para Soñar (Certeza, 2001), Souls of Fire (Libros Certeza, 2013) and Recordando Bethlem (Certeza, 2016). Sadie Duarte has received eleven literary & academic awards and also works as a teacher of English & a translator. In fact, she translated into Spanish Ia Uaro’s book Sydney’s Song (La Canción de Sydney) and wrote the English subtitles for director Jorge Aparicio’s short films Cuatro Veintes (Four by Twenty), El Morico and La Importancia de Tener un Nombre (The Importance of Having a Name). In April 2019 Sadie Duarte was a finalist as Best Screenwriter for a script titled The Last Show at the prestigious Almunia Film Festival in Spain.

DMUS is the first short musical film that Sadie Duarte wrote, directed and produced with two teams working together in Spain and USA. It’s an international project to promote artists from different countries, actors & musicians which has already got many official selections, 19 awards for Best Indie Filmmaker (Sadie Duarte) and Best Score (Jesús Calderón) at Top Shorts in Los Angeles, Best Musical at Oniros Film Awards (Italy), Best Score (Jesús Calderón) at Festigious (Los Angeles), Best Supporting Actress (Tiffany Daniels) and Best Original Score (Jesus Calderón) at Melbourne City International Film Awards, Best Ensemble (Actors Awards), Best Supporting Actress - Bahia Gold (Actors Awards), Best Woman Filmmaker at Barcelona Planet Film Festival, Best Woman Filmmaker at the Hollywood International Moving Pictures Film Festival (Los Angeles, USA), Best Music at AltFF - it includes music by multi award-winning composer Jesus Calderón -, Best Ensemble (Honorable Mention) at Los Angeles Film Awards, Best Woman Director at the European Cinematography Awards (Warsaw, Poland), Best Musical Short Film and Special Mention: Original Music (J. Calderón) at the Five Continents International Film Festival (Venezuela), Honorable Mentions: Best Indie Filmmaker (Sadie Duarte) and Best Original Score (Jesús Calderón) at the Global Film Festival Awards in Los Angeles (USA), Honorable Mention at Berlin Flash Film Festival in Germany (September 2018), Best Musical Short Film at South Film and Arts Academy Festival in Chile (November 2018).

DMUS is the first Spanish musical film shot in English language which made it onto IMDb. In 2017, Sadie also wrote, directed and produced the melodrama Quizás un Día (Maybe Someday), which has received several official selections and won 5 awards including the Giulio Penzo's Award at Medff in Italy, Best Actress at Barcelona Planet Film Festival both in January 2018 and an Honorable Mention: Best Women's Film at Virgin Spring Cinefest in India (June 2018).

Sadie also directed the music video So Far by British singer Daniel Angelus. In May 2017, Sadie wrote, directed and produced the comedy film Blown Away (Enchufados) which stars Spanish celebrities Paco Arévalo and Secun de la Rosa. This film has won 22 awards like: Best Comedy at Altff in Canada, Best Duo at the Actors Awards in Los Angeles, Honorable Mention for Best Ensemble at the New York Film Awards, Best Comedy and Best Supporting Actor - Roberto Millán at Festigious (Los Angeles), Best Supporting Actor - Pablo Escamilla at the Creation International Film Festival in Ottawa (Canada), Best Ensemble at Top Shorts in Los Angeles, Award of Merit: Best Comedy Short at the Cinema WorldFest Awards in Ottawa, Canada, Best Comedy Film at the European Cinematography Awards in Poland, Best Comedy Short, Best Actor: Paco Arévalo, Best Acting Ensemble and Best Female Director: Sadie Duarte at the Independent Shorts Awards in Los Angeles (USA) (June 2018). In September 2018, Blown Away wins Best Ensemble and an Honorable Mention for Best Comedy at Oniros Film Awards in Italy. In November 2018, this movie also received an Honorable Mention for Best Supporting Actor: Pablo Escamilla at South Film and Arts Academy Festival in Chile. Enchufados also won BEST TV PILOT at Fecicam in Ciudad Real (Spain) in 2022.

The short film When the Music Stops Playing has already won 34 awards since December 2018 like: the Sunny Side Up Film Festival, European Cinematography Awards, World Premiere Film Awards, Cinema World Fest Film Awards and more!
The Lights of Dawn and Between Here and Gone are Sadie Duarte's latest projects. The Lights of Dawn (2021), a story about James Dean, has won 38 international awards. Between Here and Gone (2022), a musical drama had received 57 international awards. Sheltered from Time (2023) is Sadie's new film which has already received 23 awards.

In her spare time, Sadie Duarte works as a freelance journalist, writing reviews and articles and helping artists to promote their works in magazines like Punk Globe (Los Angeles, USA).

Sadie has two projects in the pipeline for two feature movies, based on Between Here and Gone and on her novel Recordando Bethlem.
