Health and Conflict: Community Health Workers in South Sudan
South Sudan’s limited healthcare infrastructure and ongoing internal conflict is contributing to one of the world’s highest child and maternal mortality rates. In these challenging conditions, community health workers (CHWs) offer a rare bright light. This short documentary spotlights the efforts of Cape Breton University, BRAC and South Sudan’s Ministry of Health to leverage social enterprise models that empower CHWs to fill critical healthcare gaps in the world’s youngest nation.
