JIHAD
Jihad is the journey of themilitantAltaaf and his realization of the futility of his holy war as he stumbles upon a few truths. That unfortunatelyJihad is generally misunderstood to be true Islam! Whereas Islam stands for humanity. Islam prevails amidst brotherhood of people. And Altaaf also learns the supreme truth! That the true meaning of Jihad is not the holy war outside but the war within! Jihad is nothing but overpowering your inner devil!
Firearms can give death, not life! Impart life if you can…!!!He realizes.

Film Experience:
Having set off doing theatre in 1974 in Ujjain as an Actor, Director and Music Director, I received tremendously good response from the spectators and the senior theatre workers. This inspired me to try my luck in the film industry.
I came to Mumbai (then Bombay) in 1978 to work in the movies. Having a background in theatre, I was naturally attracted towards the theatre group in Mumbai as it had a dual purpose. To be able to keep in touch with the ambience of dramatics and use it as a networking base. Later on, I joined as an assistant director and went on to assist directors of repute like Shakti Samnta, Shekhar Kapoor, Pankaj Parashar, Satish Kaushik, AmbrishSanghal , R.S. Vikal, Rajan Johri etc. between 1980 to 1990.
In the late 90’s I directed a Feature Film--KaalBhairav.
Later I turned my attention towards television and directed many television serials.
‘TARA’ on Zee TV was one of the longest running serial on television with garnered the highest TRPs. The others too were quite popular namely ‘NYAY’ a daily soap on DD2, ‘AASHA KI KIRAN’ a daily soap for E TV, ‘NAINA’ a serial for Sahara TV, ‘KOI APNA SA’ a daily soap on Zee TV, ‘HAADASA’ a weekly serial on NEPC, ‘FARZ’ a daily soap on DD1, ‘JEE JAAN SE’ a tele film on DD1
In the year 2005 I once again tuned towards Feature Films and directed another movie-- ‘Bobby... Love and Lust’.

I have directed and edited a couple of documentary movies too:
ManduSeasons’ Rhyme[2012]
Aastha ka Safar[2013]
Raja Mahakal[2014]

Director Rakesh Parmaar’s Statement
Hindi feature film “JIHAD“
Pre Production
The script was written by Sanjay Joshi, Surabhi Pandey and Rakesh Parmaar. This is the original script based on the real incidents happened in Kashmir since 1947. It took two years to complete the Script with an extensive research work.
Concept
Generally, misconceptions about Jihad and its usage as a term are high! Wielding weapons and killing innocent people is definitely not JIHAD ! The holy book Quran quotes that the real Jihad is to win over the demons within.
Moreover, as a director I have focused on the situations in the Kashmir, India since 1947. We have tried to emphasis on the possible reasons of the proxy war in the Kashmir valley now famously termed as Jihad. In the end, one must remember that, weapons may win wars but not the hearts of the people. This movie depicts the human values. Wherever the human values or humanity are hurt, we are with them. Be it the army personnel or the people of Kashmir.
Shooting
The film was extensively shot in various parts of Kashmir mainly, Yusmarg,,Nagbal Village, Kupwada, Charare Sharif & Doodhganga.
The film shooting started on 1st June 2016
The shooting completed in 60 Days (31st July2016)
Post Production
The post production of the film was completed on 31st May’2017.
The Producer & Director are thankful to his entire team, Kashmiri Actors (whom we have trained in a regular workshop lasting six month) & the habitants of KASHMIR who have worked & supported to the cause of the movie and to complete our dream project for the international audience.
