Director Biography - Paul Walter Hauser

Paul Walter Hauser began his career in the Midwest, performing stand up comedy, which lead him to Los Angeles to pursue comedic acting and writing. In his first few years, he booked roles in the popular sitcoms "Community", "Key & Peele" and "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia".

But Paul is equally passionate about drama, having caught the attention of many in his scene-stealing role as Keith in the DirecTV series, "Kingdom", opposite Frank Grillo and Matt Lauria. His biggest break to date has been his performance as Shawn Eckhardt in the Oscar-winning film "I, Tonya", having played opposite Margot Robbie and Sebastian Stan.

Paul's sights are set on writing, producing and directing his own material. He began with writing and producing gigs at Food Network and the WWE, but recently completed writing and directing the short films, "Messy" and "Kiss Me When I'm Down".

Paul's latest performances can be in Fox Searchlight's "Super Troopers 2" the Netflix sitcom "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" and Spike Lee and Blumhouse Productions' film "BlacKkKlansman".

Paul is represented for theatrical and literary at CAA & Principato-Young Entertainment.

Director Statement

"Kiss Me When I'm Down" was written out of desperation to film something personal and produce something budget-conscious. The story's clumsy honesty and playfulness is true of many of my relationships with women, and while therapeutic for me, I hope audiences find it entertaining and relatable in it's plain Jane portrayal of friendships that teeter between romance and companionship.
