Self Offense

Self Offense is an award winning and seat gripping suspense film about the journey of four women victimized by abuse and violence. Their individual stories are woven together through the self defense course where they meet and gain tools necessary to break the cycle of abuse that has paralyzed them from moving forward. Shot as a suspense film, engaging a broader audience, the message is important and has the power to create dialogue about the issue of violence against women.

Director Biography - Wendy Keeling

Wendy Keeling is an Actor, Artist, Director, and Producer based out of Nashville, Tennessee. Wendy grew up in Bloomington, Illinois. As a young girl she was drawn to anything and everything creative. She seems to continue to be attracted to all things creative that do not necessarily pay the big bucks.

Wendy has worked both in front and behind the camera on projects in television, film, commercials, music videos, and stage. A jack of many trades, Wendy’s skills range from Acting, Directing, Casting, Set Design, Production Manager, and Producer. Recently she has switched hats to writing, directing, and producing her own projects with her production company 7 Mile Bridge Productions. "Self Offense", an award winning short film about domestic violence and stalking, has been accepted to 25 film festivals Internationally and has won several awards including best film and best actress.

Director Statement

This project has a deep meaning to our cast and crew. Many of us have been touched by violence to women, either personally or with someone we love. It happens everyday and can happen to anyone regardless of their appearance, race, religion, income, or sexuality.

Shot as a suspense film, engaging a broader audience, the message is important and has the power to create dialogue about the issue of violence against women. The film was shot as a suspense film in order to engage a broad audience. We hope to make a difference and start people talking about these issues with this film.
