Secrets of Memory

Since I went for the first time to a cinema in 1993 and saw the magic of Spielberg in Jurassic Park, I was predestinated to work with cinema.

At the end of 2022 I was in home listen some soundtracks and after listen a track called Revelations from Tristan Barton I had this insightful moment about 2 guys in a tense scene about memory.

So I wrote that scene in my cellphone and thought: "Ok, I can make a movie about this".

I started wrote the script and asked my wife to help me with it. We took some days to finish it and then I went to look for friends who wants to make the movie happen with me.

I'm a very fan of Christopher Nolan and when the first thought about the script came to me, was totally inspired in his movies. My wife, which is a Nolan fan too, gave me some ideas and helped to fufill some "holes" in the script, complementing it very well.

Inspired by movies like Memento, Inception and Mr. Nobody, the idea here is play with expectator minds and make them go deeper in the story until they can't blink or breath.

In March 2023 I started the pre-production with Kaue Carvalho and Nadia Burgel and right after we started the production phase. The movie was made with some friends and directed by me.

After 8 days of shooting, I started the post-production, doing the editing, color grading and finishing, while Pedro Sari and Wilton Matos made the composition vfx for some scenes.

This movie was made with no budget. I had to spend about $250,00 from my pocket to pay food for the team and a costume for the Braulio Motta character. All the rest: equipments, cameras, lights, costumes, locations, team travels and etc was mine or things that friends borrowed to us and things that was borrowed or paid by each one working in the project, including the actors.

So, was hard to keep everything working for all this time and make it happen with almost nothing, and we are very proud of the final result.

Working with Vinicius Olivo, Braulio Motta and Martha Rapozzo was amazing. Vinicius was an old friend that just said yes without questions at the very first time that I showed him the script. He not only act for the movie, but helped a lot in the set too. And he told me about Braulio, that was an amazing actor and perfect for the character. And Braulio bring Martha to the team, which was not only our actress but helped with the costumes too.

In total we had 19 people in the team and was a great time in the set, with no fights at all during all the days. We just had some fun, doing what we love and thinking in ways to get the best from what we had in hands. I'm very thankful to had the opportunity to work with all these people.

This was my first movie ever, and for sure not the last one. I learned a lot with it and as I said, I'm very proud of it. The final result and all the things that are hapening now, like won some awards and have the opportunity to be screned around the world, even in some very important and historical cinemas.

For now, me and my wife are working in 3 feature scripts: a feature of Secrets of Memory, a Thriller/Horror and a Sci-Fi/Thriller, and looking for sponsors and producers to make them happen.
