Director Statement

I like to add images and design into the set to enhance the experience of subliminal messaging. I spend a great deal of time finding the right location so that set design is kept to a minimum
For this film, I made conscious choices to really work with colour and tone. I added soft ethereal images of the female character in the beginning using light and angles which give her a more feminine and compliant appearance, which then change to more bold and vivid colouring as the intensity of the scene progresses and end in a more colour drained image when the disappointment and frustration peaks for her. I feel very lucky to have produced this first indie film on almost zero budget, with a talented and dedicated team. I love using actors who are talented yet challenged. Rudi is a seasoned actor, but he suffers from anxiety and depression. Astrid has just come back to acting after having her first baby and had only worked on stage before, so this is her first film. I pride myself in seeing the potential in people and in possibilities, not barriers.
