_______________

Short Synopsis

The state of Ohio ranks within the top-10 in the United States when it comes to the problem of missing women. Since 2022, there have been over 200 reported cases. Most of these cases are related to sex trafficking, forced prostitution, and sexual slavery. The majority of missing women are from poor urban and rural neighborhoods of the state, and they are rarely covered by the mainstream media. The activists from Case Western Law Clinic are trying to educate the public about this widespread problem and put a stop to this crime, by pointing out the main factors leading to sex trafficking of women.

Director Statement

There's a major problem of global proportions and it's called "sex trafficking". The state of Ohio suffers from this problem and the result is: numerous (unresolved) cases of missing women. Who are these women? What happened to them? Is there a relation between person's social status and the amount of media coverage? Many questions, not too many answers...

In our short documentary film - we try to examine this problem and present some basic information to our viewers. We hope to engage more people and make them aware of this huge problem, so we can possibly solve some cases and bring our missing women back to their families.

It's a small step forward, using documentary lens - our own take on human trafficking in Ohio and the United States.
