JESUS CHILDREN OF AMERICA

After serving 3 years in jail, Quintin Murray I aka “Q” (Pedro Figueroa) has set his sights to live life on the straight and narrow, diverting from his fast past of drug carteling, along with other crimes that secretly haunt him. Now eight months released, his focused routine of meditation + prayer, working out, and being a messenger of the word, has given him the wherewithal to embody this new life. Q’s anxieties start to flare while visiting his Parole Officer (Sardia Robinson), and sharing with her his need to make more money, and his frustrations of desperately needing and waiting for a better job. His temptations ignite when Vahey (Phillip Prince), (Q’s ex-street mentor) calls him to reconnect, and later, unexpectedly visits his job to welcome him back, baring a gift that eventually makes Q question his capability to resist the past. Having had a chance encounter with an old friend, Q becomes aware that his now ex-boyfriend Justin (Eric Flores), who stopped taking Q’s calls a few months after being incarcerated, has just opened a new business and is in talks to expand. Finally making the decision to connect, he calls Justin to congratulate him and confront him about dismissing his calls while being locked up. Q’s reality becomes shook when he’s told things have changed in Justin’s life, including being in a relationship with someone else. Once Justin becomes short and hangs up on Q, a momentary breakdown and confusion sets in, along with a timely call from Vahey, forcing Q to question his ability to sustain living on the straight and narrow, as his situation appears to unfold lonely, and suddenly, discouraging.
