Ryan Moody is a filmmaker from Trumbull County, Ohio. He now lives and works out of Los Angeles, California.
Moody developed a love for the cinema at an early age, and pursued his passion both academically and on a professional level. In 2008, he received his bachelor degree in Film Studies from The Ohio State University. He worked his way through school on film sets and video shoots in Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Indiana.
In 2012, Ryan returned to his hometown of Warren, Ohio to shoot a short film titled "Last Call." The film was released in 2013 and stars Steve Larkin and Jack Kehler. The film has screened in numerous film festivals across the country. "Last Call" has garnered awards from the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival, The California Independent Film Festival, The Columbus International Film + Video Festival, and the Big Island Film Festival.
In 2013, Ryan would go on to direct "A Walk In Winter," a chapter in the anthology film "The Heyday of the Insensitive Bastards" made in the UCLA Master Class: Adaptation and Collaboration. This would mark the first of many collaborations between Moody and James Franco.
On June 13, 2014, Ryan received his Master of Fine Arts degree in Film Directing from the UCLA School of Theater, Film & Television.
I wanted to make this film because I believe that these types of tragedies are becoming more prevalent in our culture. I wanted to take a closer look at how we, as a society, process the fear, the anger, the sadness, and the apathy these incidents bring up.
