My World and You
An old, forgetful actress is left for good by her caretaker who looks exactly like her leading man from her glory days. He exploits her material wealth before vanishing without a trace, leaving the old actress traumatized. Now alone without anyone trustworthy enough to look out for her, she copes up by longing for a past long gone through an old television set found in her bedroom. One day, a mysterious woman makes an unexpected arrival in her household, breaking in the actress' temporary world and changing her life forever.

MY WORLD AND YOU explores how longing is a secondary, repressed emotion that motivates the exterior emotions and actions of people. Longing works like a closeted need that is rarely talked about; hidden from the people around.
Through this exploration. I wish to show how people build walls and facades, and maintain exterior images in order to hide their genuine desires. The Old Actress is a character whose persona is hardened by her experiences with exploitative caretakers. She longs for an idyllic, unreachable past where she was taken care of by someone she trusted genuinely. Her repressed desire is to find someone she could trust again, and we only get hints of this repressed emotion through her external actions which affects another person, the New Caretaker.
The New Caretaker enters the Actress' life unexpectedly. She is someone who sees through the Actress' toughened exterior and aims to understand the Actress despite her hostile behavior. The Caretaker eventually pierces through the Actress' walls, exposing desires of longing. It’s in this setup of relationship dynamics that longing’s beginning and end are tackled; when someone else openly understands the closeted emotion.
Instead of tackling this subject of longing with characters who are lovers, or have nuclear relations such as family, I wanted to tackle it between two complete strangers, as I felt that the resulting connection once the walls are broken between these two people will be more powerful and moving.
