Maciej Piatek / aka VJ Pietrushka / is a Polish born UK based artist and filmmaker. His work involves a determined and authentic pursuit of visual experimentations. His works often explore the themes of human displacement and disconnection, social inequality and politics. His work has recently received a significant amount of exposure on the international video poetry circuit. As a VJ he closely co-operates with Shepherds of Cats/ Butoh Techno, a group of improvising musicians from Poland and Japan with whom he performed a series of audio-video improvised concerts in various European and Japanese venues such as: Café OTO in London, Punctum in Prague, Urbanguild in Kyoto and Cafe Teatro Abierto in Hiroshima. His work has been screened & exhibited both nationally and internationally in places such as: the ICA in London, The Arnolfini in Bristol and The London School of Economics.
