Director Statement

This is a very important and emotional film for me. All my previous shorts to this point have been black comedies and “Forever Manchester” is my first push into drama. The reason this film was made was because the Manchester bombing affected a lot of people around me including friends who where first at the scene that night, colleagues who had family there and how the event had an impact on my son when he first heard about it and was upset that something like this could happen so close to him. As someone that lives in Manchester and has been to that venue many times, it is scary how close to home this event was. Unfortunately, these days, attacks of this nature are now part of our reality. When something like this happens, we see the devastation on the news, however we never see or feel just what it like to the families who are caught up in the tragedy. I didn’t want to see the bombing, or the person who carried it out, or even talk about why they did it. I wanted to show the impact that a tragedy such as this has on loved ones at home who see and hear about the event through news and social media and to show how helpless they are in that situation.
I am extremely grateful to everyone who worked on this film for free. This short was made on a low budget and I am thankful to all who generously gave up their own time for this important project.
This film is dedicated to people that were affected by the bomb and to the strong people of Manchester.
