Director Statement

It’s a testament to the power of Lalin’s songwriting that her lyrics for the song “Flames & Figures” felt like couplets lifted directly from the thoughts swirling in my mind during the winter months that she sent me the track. The desire to communicate with someone on a deeper level and the pain of feeling distant with someone you love were persistent feelings in my personal life. The songs sonic minimalism and raw prose beautifully reflected those feelings back at me. It only felt natural to reflect the visual narrative the track conjured in my mind back at it.
